Hiring Process

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office is eager to recruit qualified, motivated, community-focused leaders to join our team. Our selection process is thorough, regimented, and equally open to all qualified persons regardless of race, color, gender, national origin, age, or disability.

Each step of our selection process is vital in selecting dedicated individuals to serve the citizens of Natchitoches Parish.

Several steps are involved in the selection process for employment with the sheriff’s office. You can expect the process to take anywhere from twenty-one (21) to sixty (60) days. Successful completion of all steps involved does not guarantee that you will be employed. If you are not among the applicants selected, you will receive written notification within thirty (30) days after selections are made. NPSO reserves the right to terminate the process at any time without notice to the applicant as to the reason why.

• Complete the online Pre-Employment Application and submit it to the Human Resources Division.
• Pass pre-employment testing (position specific)
• Those applicants for POST Certified deputies must pass a physical fitness test (Physical fitness tests are graded by sex and age group in accordance with the Cooper Standards)

Steps After Application:

• Interview with Hiring Panel and Human Resources
• Criminal history and background investigation
• Psychological tests
• Medical examination and drug screening examinations.
